Arc Flash Community,
After several months of development, a technical whitepaper detailing the origins and fundamental arc physics modeling approach used as the foundation for ArcPro is now complete.
The prime objective of this White Paper is to provide background on the complex theory upon which the main Arcpro physics-based models are founded and the associated fundamental equations. Since the introduction of Arcpro 1.0, summaries of the modelling theory have been available to users in the Appendices of the Arcpro User Manual. Kinectrics Inc., however, noted that the industry would appreciate more in-depth documentation and explanation of the modelling in Arcpro, and commissioned the production of this White Paper. This paper deals primarily with the theories and models that are common to all Arcpro versions from 1.0 to 4.0.
It is noted that the content is highly technical in nature and requires a robust understanding of fluid dynamics, calculus and thermodynamics. It is geared toward those that look to understand why the ArcPro approach to incident energy calculations is categorically superior to other known approaches that typically involve extrapolation from a limited subset of test cases. This approach is what results in ArcPro continuing to be the only arc hazard software referenced by the US OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) in the worker green Handbook.
Regards,
ArcPro Team/Kinectrics
